Sussex County is the southernmost and largest county in the U.S. state of Delaware. The county seat of Sussex County is Georgetown. Sussex County is bordered by Delaware's Kent County to the north, Maryland's Worcester County to the south, and the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay to the east and northeast.
Sussex County has no large cities or Interstate highways, contributing to the quiet, rural ambiance. There are U.S. Highways 9, 13, and 113, and the largest cities are Seaford and Milford (which is situated partly in Kent County).

Sussex County History
The town of Lewes in Sussex County has a history stretching back to its days as a whaling colony beginning in 1631. Sussex County was then founded in 1683 and named after County Sussex in England, due to being the home of William Penn, who led the early Pennsylvania Colony.
