Neighboring counties in Maryland are Anne Arundel to the east, Calvert to the southeast, Charles to the south, Howard to the north, and Montgomery to the northwest. And, of course, Washington D.C. is located to the west of central Prince George's County.
The eastern and southern portions of Prince George's County are quite rural, with many forests and small farms. There are also significant forested areas in the northeast at Greenbelt Park and the Patuxent Research Refuge.

These latter designs are marked by their use of red brick and occasionally vinyl siding, and relatively simple exteriors.
