About Gaithersburg

Thanks to its peaceful atmosphere and fantastic central location between Baltimore and D.C., Gaithersburg is a very desirable suburb to live in for a variety of homebuyers. It's about an hour from Baltimore and only 30 to 40 minutes from Washington via I-270. The Gaitherburg real estate market is quite diverse, with plenty of condos above the local businesses and shopping centers to complement the detached houses and row homes. The lovely traditional architecture and brick exteriors on many of the townhomes and commercial buildings also give the city a charming historic feel. Gaithersburg Real Estate

Gaithersburg is a large residential community. Although there are some large and prestigious employers within Gaithersburg, there are still many others who commute to nearby locations.

The Gaithersburg real estate market offers a diverse mix of housing options, from condo-apartments to townhomes, and single-family homes. The stock in the eastern portion of Gaithersburg, marked by the I-270, is generally older. To the west and south are many newer communities and developments displaying new-urbanism design principles.

These newer communities, like Kentlands and Lakelands, are dense by design, with quaint row houses built along tree-lined and walkable streets. The communities are well planned with nearby schools, parks, and shopping centers.

Some homes in the eastern portion of Gaithersburg can be as much as 100 years old. For those that are designated as historic places, an added sense of prestige is attached, although further development comes with challenges.

Gaithersburg's Olde Towne is centered at the intersection of Diamond Avenue and Summit Avenue. This area has many quaint cafes, restaurants, stores, and the Gaithersburg Community Museum.

Homes for sale in Gaithersburg feature a range of traditional colonial styles, including Federal and farmhouse designs. Common details for these homes include either red brick or white siding, exterior shutters, dormer windows, and arrays of large sash windows. There are also French chateau and Second-Empire inspired homes, with mansard rooves, decorative brickwork, and offset gables.

For affordable and convenient options, there are many townhome and condo communities like Woodland Hills, Montgomery Meadows, Christopher Court Condos, Park Place, and Cider Mill Apartments.
