Frederick County Information
Frederick County is located in northwest Maryland and has borders with both Virginia and Pennsylvania. It is home to the city of Frederick which is roughly 50 miles from Washington D.C.

As mentioned, Frederick County shares borders with both Virginia across the Potomac to the south, and Pennsylvania to the north. The western border follows a forested ridge of protected parks and reserves, traced by the famous Appalachian Trail. The eastern boundary follows the Monocacy River south from the border with Pennsylvania, before moving east along Little Pipe Creek. Near the town of Union Bridge, the border switches to following various country roads southward towards the border with Montgomery County.
The Interstate 70 and 270 Highways run through Frederik County from the southeast to the northwest. From the town of Frederick in the center of Frederick County to the city of Baltimore, the trip would take roughly 45 minutes by car. The journey from Frederick to Washington D.C. is approximately 1 hour.
