Forget creepy. Forget kooky. This year for Halloween, we’re all about crafts and creativity!

Halloween is one of the few times each year that you can completely redecorate your entire house. Whether you just make jack-o-lanterns, or go all out by decorating your front yard, you’ll agree that Halloween presents at least a little bit of an opportunity to show off your creative side.

Sure, most decorations can be bought at a store, but if you want to really get creative, you should check out some of these ideas and give them a try!

1) Candy Corn Soap Dispenser

All you need is a cone shaped soap dispenser, masking tape, a paintbrush and some yellow, orange, and white acrylic paint. First, paint the entire dispenser white. Once the paint has dried, cover the top third of the dispenser in masking tape and paint the bottom two-thirds of the dispenser yellow. Once the yellow paint has dried, cover the bottom third of the dispenser in masking tape and paint the middle orange. 

You can also do this project with tape, and some yellow, orange, and white construction paper. Divide the dispenser into thirds and cut construction paper to strips. Then cover the dispenser with the paper and tape down the ends.

2) Trick or Treat Wood Blocks

For this project, you’ll need a few wood blocks, paint, and a paintbrush. Yep! It’s that simple! Customize your message, or just go with the classic “Trick or Treat”. You can also use a stencil for the lettering, and add a fancy background or some glitter for extra flair.

3) Decorative “Boo” Pumpkins

Start with three Styrofoam pumpkins, a Styrofoam board, glitter spray paint, and some glue. First, spray paint the pumpkins in your favorite Halloween colors. Then cut a “B” and two “O’s” out of the Styrofoam board and spray paint those as well. Next, after the paint has dried, glue the pumpkins on top of each other. This work's best if you cut the stem off of the bottom two pumpkins. Glue the letters on the pumpkins, and tie ribbons around the top and bottom of the center pumpkin for the finishing touch.

4) Create a Vignette

The porch or your home's foyer, are both perfect locations for a vignette. This is especially true on Halloween night when you’ll get the chance to show it off to every trick-or-treater that knocks on your door. There are no directions on this one so let your creativity run wild!
