Locally known as the ”Gateway to the Beaches”, Selbyville is ideally positioned just a few miles from Delaware’s stunning Atlantic coastline. The small town sits right on Delaware’s southern border with Maryland with Interstate 113 running right through the western sections of the community.


Selbyville was first established back in 1778. The village has a proud heritage and maintains strong links to its colonial past. There are numerous examples of still standing historic homes and buildings from various time periods in the small community’s past.

The state park takes up a fair chunk of the barrier island just south of Bethany Beach and boasts an incredible miles-long stretch of pristine sandy beach. There’s even a designated surfing area.


Within Selbyville itself, the community is rich with a broad range of amenities. The town’s main commercial area alongside the interstate features an appealing selection of delicious local restaurants and other businesses.


Many of Selbyville’s more popular highlights harken back to the area’s early development. For example, the town’s rail road station, first constructed in 1872, has since been transformed into a museum. The Selbyville Public Library is housed within the former residence of Senator John G. Townsend, first constructed back in 1906.
