One of the leading real estate businesses by sales volume in the country is changing its name. The Creig Northrop Team announced Wednesday it will become Northrop Realty. As part of the change, the company will transition from a real estate team to a brokerage, although it will remain a part of Long & Foster Real Estate. Becoming a brokerage will allow employees who work at Northrop Realty to expand their business opportunities by creating their own real estate teams, according to the company.
The company also plans to open additional offices in Maryland to work with more property sellers and buyers.
"I began our team with a vision to be the best in the industry, and now we are at a point where growth is needed," Creig Northrop said in a statement. "By moving forward... we are allowing our agents and their teams to grow with us, which I am thrilled to be able to facilitate. We’re a family business, so it gives me great pleasure to be planting the seeds for the next generation of real estate leaders."
The real estate website RealTrends ranked The Creig Northrop Team as the No. 1 real estate team in the country by transaction volume—a total of about $770 million.
